EF86 / 6267 Single Pentode
The EF86 or 6267 is a miniature 9-pin high gain (185mu) single pentode tube. It has a 6.3v heater filament and uses a 200mA heater circuit. It is used in a some vintage guitar preamps such a the early Vox AC series, and remains in limited use today, mostly in boutique style guitar amps. It is not compatible with the more commonly used dual triode preamp tubes. Due to their high gain, EF86 tube types are prone to microphonics, especially in combo amps, and in these applications it is advisable to fit them with tube dampers.
