A recent addition to the JJ product line, the JJ KT66 beam power tetrode tube is a high quality option for guitar tube amplifiers. Tight and punchy, it provides thick midrange tones and subtle highs when compared to the 6L6 power tube. When overdriven it remains tight. It is known to be a very powerful and reliable tube due to its robust construction, and can easily withstand the higher plate voltages found in many modern guitar amps. The KT66 tube also features an isolated base ring, so no risk of shorts as was possible on the alternate metal base ring tube types.
Please note: The KT66 tube heater requires more current than the 6L6GC tube, so please confirm your OE power transformer specifications before substituting in 6L6GC applications. Also, the KT66 tube is larger than the 6L6GC tube, so ensure that your tube layout allows for fitment of larger tube.
